Great but bring back the old sounds!

Love the app, and I enjoy the new ambient sounds, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow us to use the old ones as well! The first sound that I heard when I opened the app really made me connect with it…and I simply miss it! THANKS!

Bring back old audio, but keep new audio

I agree with other reviewers: keep the new audio, but bring back the old as well. Thanks!

Good app gone bad

This is a solid app that started off on the right foot. Its all about getting you in the zone and getting out of the way. That said, two things that accomplished that task for me are now gone. The first are the original sound tracks. I dont hate the new ones, but I really preferred a couple of the old ones. Of course, if they cant use them, they cant use them. Oh well. The second problem I have is the lack of a good, proper typewriter sound. I LOVE that sound and it is the only one that makes any sense to me as a writer. Some of other sounds are interesting, but I dont like to type with them. So, Im off to other apps. Maybe I will remember to check back sometime and see if things have changed.

Was GREAT…yep, took a DIVE!

I also loved this app. The David Ummmo track on the previous version, along with the other sounds, were perfect. Strangely, and sadly, they were removed. PLEASE return them! Also, Dropbox/iCloud sync and ability to add to Evernote are a must in this cloud environment

Audio gone bad

Used to love this program. The old audio was relaxing and comfortable to do writting. Nothing mellow about the current audio selections. One track actually sounds like a bad recording from a scratched or dirty vinyl record. Might as well record finger nails on a blackboard for the next release.

Beauty plus simplicity equals just about perfect

I just started using this app and I love it! If you want a distraction-free writing experience, then this is the app for you. Not only is it easy to use, but it is beautiful which makes it all the more enjoyable. I have read some of the comments about the soundtrack and it hasnt been a problem for me because I use it with the built-in sound turned off and just tune in to the Lisa Kelly channel on Pandora. BTW: Integration with Pandora would be a nice feature to add to an already terrific app. For all of those people out there who dont like the soundtrack, I suggest you get PandaBar which is a pefect compliment to this app.

Minimalistic Design and Minimalistic Features

I love the writer, its fantastic however it can get old really fast. There are only a couple backgrounds, a couple ambient sounds and a couple typing ticks. The latest version has been ages ago and while they update new sounds and backgrounds, they remove the old ones too… Would love to see some type of importing feature, where I can make my own backgrounds. Maybe my own ambient sounds. Would love to see some polishing done to the features side of this app; though it is minimalistic and thats its prime feature, it should allow for customization.

Makes you feel great while writing, and makes you feel bad while procrastinating

This was a great tool for me to write a lengthy article. When using it in a room with your laptop and headphones, youre immersed in a beautiful, simple editor, playing non-distracting "mood" music to help you stay concentrated (also, it makes you feel that youre writing something very epic -- track 05.) Gratefully, it also ended up making me feel uncomfortable when I switched out to procrastinate. The nice music fades away to be replaced by silence, and the beautiful simplicity of its fullscreen editor would be replaced by widgets everywhere. When going back to OmmWriter, I would feel at ease again, getting back to work pretty smoothly. In the end, the only thing that distracted me was my hunger, but I dont expect it to solve that. Re: the music feedback, maybe its because I hadnt heard the others, but I found track 05 to be great for me. I could see how if they ended up pulling the track Id bonded with Id be disappointed too, though.

Great minimalist Writing App!

This app does exactly what it says. I have enjoyed writing in it so far. And theyre right, for the ultimate experience, use noise cancelling headphones. Some things Ive seen other people say have been: - Not enough backgrounds. I figured out that if you go to the contents of the program and substitute the Image files with your own .jpg, you can effectively change the backgrounds to what you want. I would however like it if they supplied you with the option to have a few slots for your own images, so you dont have to go through all that. - Not enough styles of music. Most likely, as Ive said before about the images, you can probably substitute the music files for your own. However, it would be nice to have an option to add your own playlist or music to the background. Some people work better while listening to heavy metal and some work better while listening to Enya. I personally work well to just about anything. But to make this a truly personalized space where someone can better focus, you should allow the writer to select from some of their own music. One of the things Id like to see is controls over the Music vs. FX volumes. Simply add a couple sliders with a menu option. I like to hear the typing sound more than the music, but if I turn up the sound, both go up. One last thing would I think would help this app is to have a few preset page sizes to format the size of the window. I am currently writing a novel in a 6 x 9 format. Rather than having to open Pages to see how much is on the page, then go back to OmmWriter and make the writing space approximate. It would be nice to have a simple menu in the title bar. Overall, I love this app and will continue to use it practically every day! I would encourage anyone who writes to get it and use it. It has many ways that it can improve, while still maintaining its minimalist design. And I hope to see the designers do just that! Thanks for a great app! 5/4/13 While I agree with most other users about the new sounds, I am not overly disappointed. However I did come across something I would like to see in a future update. Please add a Bold or underline option to the hideaway menu. Sometimes while writing, I would like to add emphasis to certain things or even just to highlight a chapter beginning or thought change. I dont need 10,000 options for text formatting like Pages or Word, however I would like to see a couple. Once again, Thanks for the great app!

Best Writing App To Keep Focused

Whether you write professionally, recreationally, or required to for school, this app is a great word processing replacement. It helps to block out everything else and can help keep you focused. It goes full screen so other programs and the internet wont distract you, yet are still easibly accessible when needed. Its very visually appealing, which is my favorite feature. There is also built in ambient music, but I usually dont use it. Dont hesitate to give it a try.

I love it but the new versions sounds are horrible

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE change them back!

Change is not always good

Sorry you guys lost the legal rights to the previous sounds. I generally love change, and I get the vibe you were trying to go for here with all the new sounds, but the three components just dont quite mesh now (ambient sound, typing sound, visual backdrop). Hopefully, they will for others.

Only missing minor formatting to be perfect for me (italics, bold)

its a beautiful writing environment, but its so tedious to have to mark words i want in italics as *word* and bold **word** and then go back and fix it in a proper word processor. I know the devs want this to be a simple, blissful experience, but not being able to tap cmd-i to make something (usually character dialogue) emphasized is wearing on me >.> Btw, its easy to get the old music. Save the music from the Resources folder of an old version, and rename them as the songs in the new one you want to replace. I have a mix of the two on my Dana II install. While I was happy with Dana I and needed nothing offered in Dana II (I personally only care for the winterscape background), I felt the need to toss the developer $5 (minus Apples cut) because this is a lovely app.

Love the update

I like the new one a little bit better than the old, I was getting sick of the tracks. The app in whole is amazing. since everyone likes the old tracks maybe have like an itunes link or something. or being able to switch between versions would be awesome.

Give me back my old sounds! Please!

Im hoping that if I join with the other voices of reviewers who dislike 1.3, the creators will listen and remedy their mistake. This program was awesome because of one simple sound on here. It was the one where youre sitting in what sounds like in an apartment building and you can hear things going on in the rooms around you. I dont know why, but that sound just literally did it for me. I was able to write with no problem, I was able to focus on what I was doing and get my work done. Now all these other sounds….I get too distracted and they are all too musical. Herraiz, please please PLEASE put the old sounds back on. I cant work anymore without them!

Bring back the old sounds!

I love this app. One of my favorites… But please bring back the old sounds from the beta!!! For both background sounds and typing sounds… They were much better!!!

The old version music is gone :(

The interace is the same, why is the update an “update” when it erases all the good music it had before. I am so mad for accidentally clicking "update all” because I loved using OmmWriter when the old music was there. Please bring back those old tunes :( The old songs were smooth, ambient, relaxing, and kept me concentrating. These new tracks are not that great and distract me because I don’t like them that much.

Great for creative writing

It helps to sit and just write, away from distractions and immersed in a reflective and relaxing environment. Highly recommended!

Best Way to Spend $5

Perfect for anyone who is easily distracted. Aesthetically speaking, its A+. The simple design and function make it ideal for someone who procrastinates by spending lots of time messing with a plethora of features before finally getting down to the business of writing; you totally avoid this trap with this app. If youre someone who MUST have background noise to aid in concentration this will be great for you. The keystroke audio is particularly enjoyable and makes me feel like Im really accomplishing something. Its well worth the $5 and I couldnt have designed it better myself!

Very nice simple word processor

This is a great little word processor. it is perfect to allow you to sit and compose you thoughs for a email or letter. Its not something that you are going to use to submit a thesis, but it will help in writing it. This lacks the power of a real word processor, but I dont think I would change a thing about the current product. I will be recommending this product to my friends,
