Hey guys, this morning Im so happy with my OmmWriter I cant help come here to express my gratitude to engineers behand it. Last night I came back from a business trip with quite a few ideas dripped on my iPad ommwriter. And this morning for 2 hours Ive sitting in front of my MacBook developing those ideas into full articles, memrandoms. They vary in length, but all of them are neat, meaning, fine-structured. After writing, I transport them into my Evernote. And during the whole time, I really enjoyed the experience of my ideas flowing out and pouring onto paper. Wonderful app, Ill introduce to my best friend. (I tried to recommend to my friend in China, but he couldnt access to it, census problem?)

After a while I can’t imagine writing a book in a word processor. Omm Writer took over my writing habits and I simply love it. After 2 years of hard work I finally finished my book called “Don’t read it - wait for the movie” that can be found online. All in all this is my app of choice and it’s going to stay that way.

Best remedy known to me for clearing a writers block. Just wrote a vision paper which I was putting off for days - and now finished in 3 hours. It must be something with the music which hypnotise you into writing

So you want distraction-free writing. This does that, and I used nothing else for it for years…as long as it was just on my Windows 7 desktop. However, when I started opening .omm files (simple text files) across different devices and OSs, (iOS, OSX, Windows 10,) I notitced that, despite the fact that the files are obstinently UTF-8, quotation marks and apostraphies {sp?!} get mangled depending on what you’re opening with. Just beacuse I want to WRITE without destractions doesn’t mean I don’t want to do something else later in another program/device. The reason I only knocked off two stars for that is because, if you’re entirely in the Apple ecosystem, it’s not a problem, and even if you’re not, if your .omm files are just journals and you don’t care about the encoding stuff, you’ll still like this.

Just downloaded over the weekend, when using my laptop at home, and love the software. The immersion in the writing experience is what I was looking for in a distraction free writing zone, and the soundtrack was great. However, when I returned to work on Monday and plugged my MacBook pro back into my work setup, which has two external displays, the extended desktop function of my MacBook pro would no longer work, while OmmWriter was running. Once I shut down OmmWriter, everything with the extended desktops worked fine, but again, when I launch it, only one display shows a desktop, and the other display goes black. I know OmmWriter maximizes the app in the display it is running, so this probably has something to do with it. Let me know if there is a fix, and I’ll easily bump up to 5 stars.

Cost: $10. Simply sharing what worked for me! Buy David Ummmo’s album (vol 1) on iTunes. Itunes preferenes, import prefs, export as WAV. Highlight the downloaded album and export as WAV. Drag the WAV files to desktop. Run the “Encode selected audio files” script from Automator and export as high-quality. They’re now m4a files which the program can read. open applications folder and show enclosed contents of the application by right clicking. In Contents->Resources, you’ll find ambiente1-3 files and songs 1-4. Simply rename the m4a files on your desktop the exact same as these files. There are 4 songs and 3 ambients on your desktop. Listen to them to know which they are. Then take the v1.3 update music and copy it to a folder for backup, and replace it with your purchased music. Voila! You can now enjoy the songs that were originally with your program. So much better! I am not responsible for any computer damage or data loss as a result of attempting this strategy, or any other issues that occur.

This app is great, but WHY would you get rid of all the old good ambient sounds? They replaced them with annoying tracks, they should keep all the music.

Dont know what youve got till its gone ? How would I know without the ability to compare? Weird philosphy on moving forward into the new year… Im holding off on the new version to avoid this prewarned opportunity of upgrade remorse...

I have LITERALLY tried every single writing app in the appstore. This is the most peaceful, mind-clearing and focusing app that is the most pleasing asthetic. A big thank you to the developers! This has helped me write on a regular basis. Amazing job.

I loved this app. The background music would put me in a zone where I just concentrated on my thoughts without distraction. To my surprise they replaced the ambient sounds with irritating new ones and the experience just isnt the same. Please, please bring the older ones back. Instead of replacing the sounds, please offer more choices.

I got this app just recently and fell in love with it! I started writing all sorts of things on it because I loved how it shut out the distractions of the internet and everything else around me and allowed me to be in my story. However, my favorite thing about it was the typewriter keyboard sound. I LOVE the sound of typewriters. Some of the best novels were witten to the hypnotic rythem of a typewriter and when this program had that sound I squeeled with happiness. And then the update came. Suddenly, my favorate sound was replaced with drips and snaps and other odd sounds I cant really connect with writing. Sure, they sound cool, but they dont really put me in the zone like the typewriter did. The closest one I found to the old sound was number 6, but it sounds more like someone chopping wood to me. I really miss that sound and if anything, I wish they would create a setting so that the old sounds can at least be accessed. On the up side, the ambiance is very nice in the new version, but I wish there was a volume control. If the ambiance becomes too loud, it distracts me. However, I am VERY glad they added the abbility to look up words in the dictionary without resorting to minimising the program evey time you wanted to look something up. Exceedingly helpful! So, overall, OmmWriter is still an amazing app, but I miss that old sound more then anything. I doubt Ill even use the app in my stubbornness until the typewriter sound is returned by some miracle. I shall keep a sharp eye on any updates and hope for the best.

Gone are my favorite ambient sounds replaced by new, not so good ones. If you have version 1.2 and like the audio, DO NOT UPDATE. You will likely not like the new audio. I find the new soundscapes to be more in-your-face and less background like the previous tracks. Too bad. I dont see why they could not leave well enough alone. Change just for the sake of change is rarely a good thing.

No doubt that it is great app to concenentrate on writing, before the update. Orginal ambient background musics were great to be immersed in a sheer writing experience. New background musics are just annoying. Please give back those great ambient background musics.

I love this app, but find myself writing more in Pages simply because it syncs with my iPad via iCloud. Please add iCloud support!!

When I first found Ommwriter Dana II, I thought I had found the perfect writing software. I am really shocked at how bad this new version is. I wished I had NOT upgraded. There is tons of static on the music tracks that distract you from your writing. Plus the new music suddenly jumps into melodies that are distracting and draw attention to themselves in uncreative ways. Prior to upgrade the music was tonal and didnt interfere with creativity. Now it does to a terrible degree. I had to shut it off. I ended up going back to MS Word. I was totally wowed by this program, but this new upgrade is a step backward and over a cliff -- yes, its that bad. I cannot recommend this software to anyone in its current state. Indeed, it is a waste of your money. Such a shame, it was a brilliant idea. Now, its junk.

The old version was cool. I herd the new version sounds in a friends mac and decided not to update mine. The devs could have added the new sounds if they liked them so much, the interface is clean and they did not need to worry about having more options of sounds. But no THEY REPLACED THEM.

I love this application, but am very disappointed that the music and keyboard sounds from the previous version were eliminated. Please add them back. This is the reason I can only give it 3 stars.

I tend to be distracted easily when I am doing something I am not enjoying. Sometimes I dont quite enjoy writing or working. I turn to Ommwriter every time I am sliding off the "doing" slope. If I am sitting around and need inspiration to get started again, I put my headphones on and start up Ommwriter. It settles me down and cuts out my distraction and I just write. I just type away every thought I have until I am back on track to get more work done. I cant recommend this app enough for getting through tough writing assignments or business proposals or even tough coding situations. I have written enough in this app to know I actually use it for its intended purpose instead of its novelity. The new sounds took a getting used to, but I enjoy them after finding the one that sets me in motion, and the drips key sound is my reward for that motion.
